Farook Institute of Management Studies (FIMS) organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Higher Education Quality Frameworks on 23rd May 2025 at the MDP Hall. The programme aimed to equip faculty members with essential knowledge and practical insights into the evolving landscape of quality assurance in higher education. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members across departments, reflecting the growing interest and relevance of academic excellence and institutional benchmarking in today’s competitive academic environment.
The session began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Sujata Shankaran, Academic Head and Deputy Director, who emphasized the need for continuous academic development in line with emerging educational quality standards. This was followed by the inaugural address by Dr. Ahmad Riaz, Director of FIMS, who elaborated on the institute’s strategic commitment to adopting structured quality frameworks that foster academic integrity, accountability, and innovation.
The highlight of the programme was a knowledge-rich session led by Prof. E.P. Imbichikoya, CEO of SAFI Group of Institutions and a renowned academic administrator. His presentation covered critical frameworks such as NAAC and NBA accreditation parameters, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) models. The session was both insightful and interactive, helping participants understand not just the theoretical foundations but also the practical application of these frameworks within institutional settings.
The programme concluded with a thoughtful vote of thanks by Dr. Sujith Sebastian, Staff Secretary and Associate Professor, who appreciated the valuable insights shared by the resource person and acknowledged the collective efforts of the organizing team. Participants expressed high levels of satisfaction, noting that the FDP enhanced their understanding and confidence in implementing quality benchmarks in teaching, assessment, and curriculum design.
This FDP stands as a testament to FIMS’ proactive efforts to foster a culture of continuous learning and academic quality. The session not only bridged gaps in awareness around national and international standards but also opened up avenues for faculty-led initiatives in academic planning, self-assessment, and institutional development. Future follow-up workshops and FDPs on similar themes are planned to ensure long-term impact and engagement.
